I would say of your conclusion that the average 1st and now 2nd world individual is now overweight to an unhealthy degree shows the unlikely nature of us doing the same with out minds. Exercise being voluntary, mental or physical, will probably not be chosen by the majority, leaving them as unhealthy in their minds soon as they are in their bodies now.

I would like to point out that there is no intelligence in the current LLM implementation of "artificial intelligence". I also wonder at the use of the term "dumbing down" to describe the smart phone technology that requires a degree of physical dexterity, reading comprehension, and the ability to keep track of multiple tasks simultaneously. How would the mythical well book read individual from the past of say the 1950's react to a typical Chinse train station that people today use while engrossed in their phones you claim are making them "dumb".

Prior to phones with translation apps (which are not intelligent) there was little "hand waving". There was indeed lots of pointing and the non-chinese speaking foreigner made sure they had cards written in Chinese characters with his destination or objective. The great thing about China is that though there are innumerable dialects making it difficult for even many Chinese to understand each other, the written language is pretty much standard across all the different dialects.
